Ehhhh... let's be real Souf Cack locals - The place sucks 95% of the time. I'll still go out there and catch a few sets because I fucking grew up here and damn it.... I just like Pawleys. It's very chill. I've never had any problems with the cops. Pawley's is a very chill part of the coast. Cool locals.... they have to be because the swells are so few and far between. I have had some good days out there though, but they were usually hurricane swells. Much like every other spot in the area, it is what you make of it. If you want the finest in the region, head to FL or OBX. If you can get wet for a couple hours and you're in the area, why not? Pawleys reminds me of what Folly must have been 30 years ago. Truly great days I could name over the last two decades I could probably count on my 10 fingers. Surf mush, have some bourbon, eat some local shrimp, and meet some locals. Great people. I surf Folly a good bit because I live here, and as crowded with little kooks from James Island and Wando HS, sometimes you just need a change of pace right up the road and Pawley's certainly gives you that. I just got back from Maui and I have 2 weeks in Pavones, CR coming up. I'll seek out the overseas spots when I want the goods.... or I just wait for that low pressure system come from the coast of Africa and give us a little nudge. It makes me not take our decent days for granted.
