- Rips / undertow
From this beachbreak you can see Pontao. This other wave breaks very close to the rocks and barreled nicely.
When i was visiting a crapload of locals surfed the barrel so i didn`t try it...looked very nice though.....
Atmosphere
The leblon line-up seemed to be populated mostly by bodyboarding kids and teenage surfers.
one day a swimmer got caught by the rip and he drifted out in the ocean ...the beach guards seem alert about the danger.
General
I surfed it from about knee height to chest height as it got bigger it got faster and faster. When there is a medium swell of East /SouthEast, this spot become a great barrel machine.
I broke a fin and crashed my board up a bit..
a lot of the locals had smashed boards, and there where board noses floating around in the water..the surfers at Leblon was much more friendly than those at Arpoador.

- Not really worth it.. some of the pics look great but i can tell you it's pure illusion. Some are fat and don't break, and most of them close out. Add to that a bunch of half-brained over-worked out locals who think they are at Sunset (like the dude below...fora haole? they probably can't even pronounce it properly) and you have all the ingredients for a crappy session. Go further along the coast and you'll find better waves with more decent crowds, even though, this being Rio de Janeiro, decent is always relative: The crowds suck and most people have no idea of how to behave in a lineup!

300 to 500 mts wave, haha. - Nobody has ever surfed a 300 mts wave here, not even Marcelo Trekinho, the best local of the spot. When it´s classic you get to surf 50 mts waves, otherwise is a close out.
