from the commercial centre of praia da pipa there is a 10 minutes walk to the spot. but you can access to it by car as well. leave the car parked in the cliff, descend with the board and you are in the beach!
the uncrowded glassy morning is the best moment to surf. then it gets pretty loaded with up to 40 surfers but as there are nearly 4 constant waves along the beach, there is room for everybody
Atmosphere
the town, praia da pipa, is really touristic and it gets packed up with surfers from nearby cities on weekends and holidays. during the nonholiday weeks the local atmosphere is friendly if you are respectful. the place is a natural paradise and has the advantage that it isnt yet over exploited. so go check it out before it is.

Do not confuse! - Do not confuse. There is a beach called Ponta Negra in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte State. Is a beach with low waves.
There is a beach called Ponta Negra in Maricá, Rio de Janeiro State. It is a beach with HIGH waves. Be alert! The distance between both beaches is about 3000 Km (2000 miles).

Praia do Amor and Ponta negra isn't in Rio - Praia do Amor and Ponta Negra isn't in Rio de janeiro region. This places is in northeast of Brazil at Rio grande do Norte closed to Natal.
