There is a nice left point break in the south end of playa abanico2 and the rest is a beach break with many fun peaks. The town is clean and nice, there are some places to stay for not too much money and the food is great. The locals are also mellow. Need a 3/2 full wetsuit but it wasn't cold when I went (March). I think from Oct to April it should be pretty warm (low 60s).
Waves probably can get huge but I got it at about waist to head (2-4ft).
It´s a good spot, when you are near Viña del Mar, go there!!!

COOl spot!

I lived 8 months in Maitencillo - It´s one of the best beachbreaks in Chile.
There is one left wave at the south of the beach which it called Rocky Point. The rest is beachbreak. The best wave is opposite to a small supermarket which it called kiosko abanico. With north it can get huge to 3,5 meters, but still its possible to surf it. The locals are very friendly.

Cabanas Maitencillo, Chile - Just letting you know that Cabanas San Pierre web site has been renamed www.cabanasmaitencillo.com ~ newly refurbished & I loved the free Wi-Fi & cable TV at the place (only free Wi-Fi I saw in the resort)
