La Herradura is on the obvious headland south of Lima city. Follow the 'Circuito des Playas' south past Barranco, and past the Regatta Club. The last beach has a parking; from here walk along under the cliffs. Chose your entry point carefully. If its not too big you can go in right on the point off a blocky ledge - paddle out 20-30m into the take off zone. Good timing obligatory.
The take-off on the point is steep, fast and crowded, the wave holds a good section then fattens and slows, before picking up speed again for a freight-train run into a barreling finish
Above it says ´normal day´ of 50m.... actually a normal day it doesn´t work at all... but when it does it is at least 150m: all or nothing here!
Atmosphere
Despite being so close to the city, this is a beautiful spot. OK so its not Tahiti, but it has its own charm, and the wave is real quality.
General
Awesome..... Apart from the fact that the spot requires a big swell to be running before it starts working, it has to be one of the best waves in Peru. Given the slightly sectiony nature, it can hold crowds with intermediate take-off spots.

Herradura is AWESOME - I caught Herradura w/ solid 14-16 foot faces and it was intense! Fast wave that break right on the point next to the rocks. When I was there about 12-14 guys were out. 8 of the 12 ripped and 10 of the 12 were sitting right on the point so there was plenty of waves to pick off when one of them fell. Locals were totally cool. The wave is 400-600 yards of freight training fun. Awesome!

power wave - As good as the comments , I surfed it a couple of times at the 6-10ft range . Amicable locals who showed me a good jump entrance off the rocks .Thanx dudes. It can be a bit fat tho and the water aint pretty .To get there just take a taxi from the centro or Barranco etc . You can leave you stuff at one of the cafes in the front.
