Find the big road sign "Punta Rocas" at km46 south of Lima (on the old Panamerican Highway)... the top track takes you to the point overlooking the spot, the lower track takes you into the beach-front parking. This is one of the areas most consistent breaks - it works from small to big swell: only on very big swells does it close out.
The point is a classic: it breaks both ways, with the left being faster and generally shorter. However, the quality of each direction depends on the swell direction.
Have a look from the cliff top and you'll get the picture pretty fast.
Atmosphere
A really good quality wave, which can hold decent size, throwing both left and right of the rocky reef.
When the swell is small watch out for some of the less-than-submerged rocks.
A fun shore break exists right in front of the parking
General
This spot was used (about 7-8 years ago) for international competition surfing - chosen due to its quality and the fact that it is so consistenly surfable.

Prejudice against Brazilians a joke! - It's pretty freaking funny that the peruvians have some much prejudice against the brazilians. The brazilians are the ones injecting money in there, the place is deserted, and if it weren't for the brazilians, there wouldn't be a single market/restaurant left in business. Peruvians should let the brazilians surf all the set waves... fuck yea!
I will return, and I will surf, fuck the prejudice.

Punta Rocas intermediate surfer - Hola amigos, I'm going to Punta Hermosa this October... and I definitely want to surf this wave.
I am an intermediate surfer (ok, I'm still learning some basic manouvers like doing a Snap and a Cutback, but I ain't no beginner... I think), so I'm wandering, how hard this wave really is?
Would you say a beginner to intermediate surfer can easily surf Punta Rocas when it's between 6 to 8 ft?
Also, is it easy getting out of the water? Just ride the whitewater to the beach? or is there a catch?
Gracias!
