Additional Information
The wave has three sections, a hollow tubular take-off followed by a wall for practising you turns and then a final tubular section. One of Peru's best, if least accessible waves!
The finest right-breaking wave is to be found in Ica. Because of its position, the island features the only wave in Peru where right-running, tubular waves break to the west. It is a fairly long wave, which divides up into four sections. The water is very cold, and strong winds gust in the afternoons. San Gallán is a unique spot, where surfers take to the waves amidst hundreds of sea lions. The island, in front of the Paracas, Pensinula, was recently made part of the Paracas National Reserve

Atmosphere
Not a regular spot - needs a southern swell to work really well. On a SW swell works on two sections only. San Gallan works on mid to high tides, with swell in the range 4ft min 7-8ft max... beyond this it closes out.
When working you can get a few surfers hanging out - which is a testament to its quality!
This island is ubicated in a protected natural reserve, there are a lot of sea wolves, Humboldt pinguins and seagulls, is a espectacular trip, when you are surfing the sea wolves swim around you , but are totally inofensive.

General
Great place to meet sea-lions in the water.... the wave is in the middle of spectacular surroundings - way out at sea in a very nature-rich reserve.
Camping is possible, but the island is a very harsh environment - desertic and windy: most people opt for the day trip solution even if it is more expensive!
I think this spot is the best right in Peru, all the surftrip is wonderfull, the wave is very powerfull and a lot of surfboards are broken, more go to this spot more enjoy this trip. I love this Island ¡¡¡¡¡
