Bayovar port is unsafe, since it's so far from every where it's frequented by run away thieves.

Additional Information
you need someone to know were it is to find it. its a fun mission.
It's sad how "surf guides" sell you the trip of a lifetime, and finally after several hours of driving and days of very uncomfortable conditions , terrible food and lame camping equipment you end up surfing closed out ultra fast unmakeable stuff that doesn't pay off.
im telling ya, go with known surfer or youl have a deseption

Atmosphere
its very far from any city. winds sometimes ruin it but doesnt blow all day.
It's more an off road trip than a surf trip. Sand is blown every where, everything you eat is seasoned with it, think twice before you go there since there are so many good waves in Peru. Lobitos paid off big time.

All time bum trip - Drove for 15 hours to this scary little fish town where we got a several hours boat ride only to be left and stranded at this remote fast imposible wave with currents to heavy to paddle back. Th wind was a major problem and the sand blown by it even worst, every meal had plenty of it. Being picked up by the boat two days late and and food short proved to be even worst. Believe me you can have way better surf in Peru with little or no crowd and easier acces.
