This spot is easy to surf, but be reminded that alot of surfers know about it. Take it easy, and prepare for a battle.
Atmosphere
The atmosphere here is pretty sweet! Its almost always sunny. Its a great place to free your mind.
General
This spot is by far my favorite! There are alot of other spots around where i live, but this one is the best for surfers that like other surfers helping them out. The ages here is a wide range...anywhere from late 40's to 6 or 7 year olds...its a great place!

Kooks over run LB pier. - i've surf here for Ten years and yesterday was the worst day i've ever had here. almost got in like three fights in like 15 min. Maybe we should bring back that '80's mentality. If your just learning how to surf or you suck just go down the beach dont ruin the only spot we have because you want to try out your new cool BIC funboard.

Long beach - Long beach is the shit. I learned to surf here bout 5 years ago. The pier is the spot if you are lookin for allright surf, babes, and a place to chill when you are out of the water. If the pier isnt on you can go to the point but be careful for the currents and the riptides anywhere you go.

LB Pier will be gone - The Long Beach Pier and properties have been sold to developers who are chopping it up for single home housing lots. The Pier is being dismantled right now and should be gone by early summer. It's "reef balls" through which the pilings were driven were the reason for the bottom shape and decent waves. Now it'll be returned to the same generic bottom and sloppy wave you find anywhere. Save yourself the trip. The good news is the pier fisherman and their "300 foot limit" are long gone.
