The climate is tropical, with high air temps in the 80s during the winter months from Nov-Apr, when it usually doesn't rain, and in the 90s during the humid rainy, summer months from May-Oct. Water temps range from 76 to 84. However, the water can get chilly, occasionally dipping down due to upwelling currents on the coldest winter days
Seasonal swell & wind variations:
This area has over a 180 degree swell window and picks up all South and NW Pacific ground swells as well as tropical swells (Jul-Oct). There are two surfing seasons; summer and winter, with winter being more regular but possibly smaller and summer having all-or-nothing hurricane swells

rioting, raiding, and the like - heavy fighting between indiginous villagers for land in michoacan, coastal road blocked for weeks now, tourists trapped in la ticla, surfing prohibition enforced by ploughing outboard boats, people have been lynched, now enraged drug cartels (leader arrested) are adding to the chaos and the federal government has just moved into the state with 5000 troops... better stay away for a while...

Summer Rain - I got some good surf here in April 07 and I'm planning on going back in August. Can anybody tell me how much it rains in the summer months. Is it like Costa, where its sunny in the morning and rains like hell all afternoon?
